Download a real .docx invoice you can edit in Word, Docs or LibreOffice.
A real .docx — OOXML, with a genuine Word table you can add rows to and save back. Not HTML with a different extension, which is what most free Word invoice downloads turn out to be.
The Word Invoice Template writes a real .docx — OOXML, with a genuine Word table you can add rows to and save back — rather than HTML renamed, and hands you a Word-compatible .doc beside it for older environments.
Most "free Word invoice template" downloads are a picture of an invoice in a table you cannot align, or a file behind an email signup. This builds the document from what you actually type and hands you a real .docx — the OOXML format Word writes itself.
Because it is a real Word document rather than HTML renamed, the table is a Word table: you can add rows, merge cells, change fonts and save it back without Word asking awkward questions about the format. It opens the same way in Google Docs and LibreOffice Writer.
There is also a Word-compatible HTML download beside it, which is more forgiving of very old copies of Word and of unusual environments. Both are written in your browser — nothing is uploaded to build either one, which for a document carrying your bank details is the point.
OOXML with a Word table, not HTML with a different extension.
Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice Writer all edit it normally.
Tidy it once in Word and reuse it as a template.
Word-compatible HTML for very old copies of Word.
Nothing is uploaded to build either file.
Your details, the client, the lines, the tax and the terms.
For a reusable template, clear the client and the item lines.
A real Word document with an editable table.
Add rows, change fonts, save as a template for next time.
Yes. It is an OOXML .docx — the same format Word saves — with a real Word table, not HTML with a .doc extension. Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice Writer all open and edit it normally.
Yes. Open the .docx, tidy anything you want, then use Save As and choose Word Template (.dotx). New invoices then start from it without touching the original.
It is Word-compatible HTML, which very old copies of Word and some unusual environments handle more reliably than a real .docx. If the .docx opens for you, use it.
The .docx carries text and the table. Add your logo in Word once and save it as a template — that is more reliable than embedding an image and gives you control over its placement.
