Advertising Disclosure
Where the money comes from, where ads are allowed to appear, and the line between the advertising and everything else on this site.
How this site is funded
ToolQivo is free, has no accounts and sells nothing. It is paid for by third-party advertising displayed around the tools. That single source of income covers hosting, the domain, and the time spent building tools and fixing them.
The alternatives were charging for the tools, gating the useful features behind a subscription, or selling data about visitors. We would rather show you an ad than do any of those, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it.
Who serves the ads
Advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense and its certified partners. Google acts as a third-party vendor: it selects which ad you see, and it may use cookies and similar technology to limit repetition, to measure whether an ad was seen or clicked, and — where you have permitted it — to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.
We do not choose the individual advertisements, we do not know in advance what will appear on a page, and no advertiser is given a list of our visitors. Exactly which cookies are involved, and how to refuse them, is set out in the cookie policy. What Google receives is described in the Google partner-sites notice.
Ads we sell directly
Alongside the network advertising above, some of the image banners on this site are sold by us directly to a named advertiser for a fixed period. Where that is the case:
- The placement is labelled Advertisement on the creative itself, next to a link back to this page.
- It is a single image and a link, nothing more. No script belonging to an advertiser runs on this site, so a direct banner cannot track you, read the page, or set a cookie of its own.
- Every link out of one carries
rel="sponsored nofollow", which tells search engines the placement was paid for and passes no ranking credit. We do not sell links, and buying a banner does not buy one. - Each booking has an end date. The banner stops appearing when that date passes, automatically — nobody has to remember to take it down.
- We count how many times a banner was shown and how many times it was clicked. Those two numbers are all we record, they are kept per day rather than per person, and they contain nothing that identifies anybody.
The placement rules further down apply to these in exactly the same way as to network ads, and so does the separation from editorial: paying for a banner buys space on the page and nothing else.
Advertising never sees what you put into a tool
This is worth stating on its own, because it is the question people actually have. The text you paste and the files you open are processed by JavaScript on your own device and are never transmitted anywhere — not to us, and not to an ad network. There is no upload endpoint on this site for them to read from. An advertiser cannot target you on the contents of a document you formatted, because nobody but you ever had it.
Where ads may and may not appear
The rules we hold ourselves to, in addition to Google's own policies:
- No advertisement is placed inside the working area of a tool — between an input and its output, or over a result.
- Nothing is styled to look like a button, a download link, a form field or part of a tool. If it is an ad, it looks like an ad.
- No pop-ups that block the page, no interstitials in front of a tool, and no ads that move the layout under your finger while you are using it.
- No auto-playing sound.
- Ad labels stay visible. We do not hide the word "Advertisement" to raise a click rate.
- We never ask anyone to click an ad, and we do not click our own — both are grounds for our account being closed, and both are dishonest.
If you find an ad on this site that breaks one of these rules, or one that is misleading, malicious or wildly inappropriate, please send us the page URL and a screenshot at toolqivo@gmail.com. We can report it and have it blocked.
Advertising has no influence on content
Advertisers have no say in what we publish. They do not see content before it goes live, cannot request changes or removals, and cannot buy a mention inside a tool page or a favourable comparison. No tool exists because somebody paid for it to exist. That separation is part of our editorial policy, not just a preference.
Sponsored content and affiliate links
At present this site publishes no sponsored posts and no paid reviews, and it carries no affiliate links.
If that ever changes, the rules are fixed in advance: anything paid for is labelled clearly at the top of the page, in plain words, before you read it; a paid placement never becomes a recommendation we do not believe; and an affiliate link is disclosed on the page where it appears, not only here. A commission never changes what we say about a product.
Turning off personalised ads
You can make the ads you see less personalised without losing access to anything on this site:
- Manage what Google uses about you at My Ad Center.
- Opt out of many vendors at once at optout.aboutads.info, or at Your Online Choices in Europe.
- Block third-party cookies in your browser, which stops most advertising cookies at source.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, refuse personalisation in the consent message shown before ads load.
None of these break the tools. You will still see advertising; it will simply be chosen from the page you are on rather than from anything about you.
Ad blockers
If you use an ad blocker, the site will keep working normally and you will not be nagged, counted or locked out. We would rather you use the tools.
