Invoice Number Generator
Design an invoice numbering scheme and generate the next numbers in sequence.
A clear payment block with the IBAN and account checked before you send it.
The Invoice Generator with Bank Details checks the payment block as you type — the IBAN against its mod-97 checksum and country length, the SWIFT for shape, the US routing number against its own checksum — so a transposed digit is caught before the invoice goes out.
A typo in the bank details on an invoice is the worst kind of error, because nobody notices it until the payment bounces a week later — or, worse, arrives in somebody else’s account. And the bank details are the one block a customer copies character by character.
This builder puts a complete payment block on the invoice and checks it as you type. The IBAN is verified with the ISO 13616 mod-97 checksum and against the correct length for its country, so a transposed pair of digits is caught before the invoice goes out. The SWIFT/BIC is checked for shape. A UK sort code and a US routing number are checked too, the routing number against its own checksum.
It covers the fields every rail needs — account name, number, IBAN, SWIFT, sort code, routing number and branch — so the same invoice works for a domestic transfer, a SEPA payment and an international wire. None of it is sent anywhere to be checked; the checksums run in your browser.
Mod-97 and the correct length for its country.
The 3-7-1 weighting ABA numbers carry.
Domestic, SEPA and international wire fields together.
Increasingly checked against the account by the paying bank.
No lookup service sees your account number.
As the bank holds it. Many banks now check the name against the account.
Its checksum and country length are verified as you type.
Sort code and account number, or routing number, for local payers.
Plus the bank’s name and address for a wire.
It is what lets you match the payment.
The account name, and whatever your payers’ rail needs: sort code and account number in the UK, IBAN in Europe, routing and account number in the US, and IBAN or account plus SWIFT for international wires.
The first four characters move to the end, letters become numbers, and the whole thing must leave a remainder of one when divided by 97. That catches almost every single typo and transposition. It cannot confirm who owns the account.
Yes — people need them to pay you, and an account number alone does not let anyone take money out. The real risk is invoice fraud, where somebody sends your customer a fake invoice with different details. Tell customers you will never change your bank details by email.
No. The checksums run in your browser. Nothing is looked up online.
