About the YAML to TOML Converter

Rust’s Cargo, Hugo, Netlify, Poetry and every modern Python project with a pyproject.toml read TOML, while the same settings often already exist as YAML from an older setup or another tool. The two formats look similar and are not: TOML has real tables, explicit types, and no concept of null at all.

Paste YAML and get TOML. Nested mappings become [tables], deeper ones become dotted [table.names], and a list of mappings becomes the [[array of tables]] form that Cargo and Hugo use for dependencies and menu entries. Strings, numbers, booleans and dates are written in their TOML forms with proper quoting and escaping. Because TOML cannot express null, those keys are dropped — and counted, so you know exactly how many and can give them real values.
