About the HTML to BBCode Converter

Forums do not accept HTML. Paste something copied from a document or a web page into a post and you either get raw tags on screen or a wall of stripped, unformatted text — neither of which is what you wrote.

Paste the HTML and get BBCode. Bold, italic, underline and strike map to their tags; links keep their address; images keep their source and alt text; lists become [list] with [*] items; blockquotes become [quote], keeping the citation when there is one; pre and code become [code]; and inline colour and font-size styles become [color] and [size]. Headings have no BBCode equivalent, so they become bold — or bold inside [size], if your forum supports it. Scripts, styles and layout CSS are dropped, because no forum would accept them anyway.

Key features of the HTML to BBCode Converter

The whole common set

b, i, u, s, url, img, quote, code, list and table.

Citations kept

A blockquote with a cite becomes [quote=name].

Inline styles mapped

Colour and font-size become [color] and [size].

Headings handled honestly

BBCode has none, so they become bold — or bold inside [size].

Unsafe blocks dropped

Script, style and noscript are removed and reported.
