About the Words to Number Converter

Numbers written in words turn up in scanned contracts, transcripts, voice notes, old ledgers and data exports, and they have to be turned back into digits before anything can add them up. Doing it by hand for a list is slow, and a single misread "lakh" or "billion" changes a figure by orders of magnitude.

Paste the words, one number per line. The converter reads British and American phrasing, with or without "and" and hyphens; the Indian lakh and crore, including "one lakh crore"; decimals such as "three point one four"; shortcuts such as "a million" or "1.5 crore"; and ordinals like "twenty-first". Results can be plain digits, grouped internationally, grouped the Indian way, or written in Bangla digits.

Key features of the Words to Number Converter

Indian and international scales

Lakh, crore, arab and "lakh crore" are read alongside thousand, million and billion.

Mixed digits and words

Figures written as "3 million" or "1.5 crore" are understood as well as full words.

Decimals and negatives

"Minus seven point two five" becomes -7.25, exactly.

Ordinals
