About the Video to Audio Converter

Every video format carries its sound in a different codec, and every destination wants a different one: an editor wants WAV, a podcast host wants MP3, an archive wants FLAC, a phone wants M4A. Extracting audio should not mean choosing between an upload site and installing a desktop tool.

The conversion runs in your browser through ffmpeg.wasm — the real ffmpeg, compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded: a wedding video, a client recording or an unreleased track never leaves your machine. The engine is a one-off download of about 32 MB, after which your browser caches it and every later conversion starts immediately.

MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, FLV and WMV all go in; MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG Vorbis and Opus come out. Set the bitrate, sample rate and channels, trim to a section, or normalise the loudness. Choosing WAV or FLAC keeps exactly what the video held, with no further loss — which is what you want before editing.
