Turn an invoice into XML — a plain readable file, UBL 2.1 or CII — from a simple form.
The XML Invoice Generator turns an invoice form into XML — a plain, readable structure for your own systems, standard UBL 2.1, or UN/CEFACT CII — all written live from the same invoice so the three always agree.
An XML invoice is what you need when an invoice has to move between systems rather than between people: an import into an ERP, a feed to a customer’s procurement platform, an archive that software has to search. Which XML depends on who reads it.
This produces three. Plain invoice XML is a simple, readable structure — header, seller, buyer, lines and totals — for your own integrations, where a standard would be overkill. UBL 2.1 is the OASIS standard used by Peppol and most e-invoicing networks. CII is the UN/CEFACT Cross Industry Invoice inside Factur-X and ZUGFeRD. All three are written live from the same invoice form, so they always agree.
The standard formats are checked against the EN 16931 business rules as you type. The file is built in your browser and never uploaded.
Obvious element names, no standard to learn.
UBL 2.1 and CII, checked against EN 16931.
Ampersands, accents and symbols survive as UTF-8.
The XML updates as the form changes.
Built in your browser, never uploaded.
Parties, items, tax and payment details.
Plain XML for your own systems, or UBL or CII for e-invoicing.
The XML updates on every change, with the rules underneath for the standard formats.
A UTF-8 .xml file named after the invoice number.
There is no single one. For e-invoicing to businesses or governments it is UBL or CII under EN 16931. For your own integration, a plain XML that mirrors your data is usually easier to map.
No, deliberately. It is a readable structure with obvious element names for internal use and imports. Use UBL or CII when the receiver expects a standard.
Yes. Ampersands, angle brackets and quotes are escaped, and the file is declared and written as UTF-8, so accented names and currency symbols survive.
Yes — the E-Invoice Converter reads plain XML, UBL and CII back into a printable invoice.
