Quick Tool Overview

The Retail Invoice Generator works in tax-inclusive prices, so the figure you type is the figure the customer pays and the tax is backed out for the totals — with an 80mm till-roll layout and a PAID stamp that turns the invoice into a receipt.

About the Retail Invoice Generator

Retail pricing is tax-inclusive: the shelf says £24.99 and the customer pays £24.99, with the tax already inside it. An invoice template built for business-to-business work adds tax on top and produces £29.99, which is wrong by exactly the amount that makes a customer complain.

This builder starts in inclusive mode, so the prices you type are the prices the customer pays and the tax is backed out for the totals — £120 at 20% is £100 plus £20, not £120 plus £24. The document can be a full A4 invoice or an 80mm till roll, and a PAID stamp turns it into a receipt in one click.

It suits a shop that occasionally needs a proper invoice for a business customer, a market trader, a pop-up, or anyone taking a payment away from a till system. Item codes and units are available when the sale needs to reconcile against stock.

Key features of the Retail Invoice Generator

Tax-inclusive by default

Consumer prices include tax, so that is how the builder starts.

Correct inclusive maths

£120 at 20% is £100 plus £20, not £120 plus £24.

Till-roll layout

The Receipt template prints to an 80mm thermal roll.

PAID stamp

One click turns the invoice into the receipt a customer wants.

Item codes when needed

SKU and unit columns for a sale that must reconcile against stock.

How to use the Retail Invoice Generator

  1. 1

    Keep prices tax-inclusive

Type the shelf price. The tax is worked out from inside it, not added on top.

  2. 2

    Add the items

Description, quantity and the price the customer actually paid.

  3. 3

    Choose the paper

A4 for an invoice, or the Receipt template for an 80mm thermal roll.

  4. 4

    Mark it paid

The PAID stamp turns an invoice into a receipt, which is what a customer usually wants.

Frequently asked questions

For a consumer sale, yes — consumer law in the UK, EU and much of the world requires prices shown to consumers to include tax. Set the treatment to inclusive and the totals will still show the tax separately, which is what a business customer needs.
