Check US Employer Identification Numbers on invoices and W-9s, in bulk.
The Invoice EIN Validator checks US Employer Identification Numbers in bulk — nine digits, the 12-3456789 format and a prefix the IRS has actually issued — and flags numbers shaped like a Social Security number.
An EIN is the number a US business gives you for tax reporting, and the one you will put on a 1099 at the end of the year. Unlike a VAT number it has no check digit, so there is less to verify — but there is more than nothing: it is nine digits, written 12-3456789, and the first two are a prefix the IRS has actually issued.
Paste one EIN or a column of them from your vendor list. Each is checked for length, for a prefix on the IRS list — which rules out numbers that were never valid — and formatted the way the IRS writes them. Numbers that look like Social Security numbers are flagged, because a sole proprietor often supplies one by mistake.
What no offline tool can do is confirm the EIN belongs to the name beside it. That needs the IRS TIN Matching service, and for contractors you should collect a signed W-9 regardless. Everything here runs in your browser.
