Invoice Payment Tracker
Match payments against invoices, including the lump sums that cover several.
A real .xlsx invoice with live formulas — change a quantity and it recalculates.
A real .xlsx with live formulas — line totals, a SUM subtotal, the tax and the grand total. Change a quantity in Excel and everything below it updates, which is the entire reason to want an invoice in a spreadsheet.
The Excel Invoice Template writes a real .xlsx workbook with live formulas — line totals, a SUM subtotal, a tax formula or SUMPRODUCT across mixed rates, and a grand total — plus currency number formats built from the currency you chose.
An Excel invoice template that hands you a CSV is not an Excel template — it is a text file with commas in it, and the first thing anyone does is spend ten minutes putting the formulas back. This writes a real .xlsx workbook.
The line totals are formulas: quantity times unit price less the discount, rounded to two places. The subtotal is a SUM over the item range. The tax is a formula over the subtotal, or a SUMPRODUCT across per-line rates when an invoice mixes them. The grand total adds them up. Change a quantity in Excel and everything below it updates, which is the entire reason to want an invoice in a spreadsheet.
The currency number format is built from the currency you picked, so the yen comes out with no decimal places and the Kuwaiti dinar with three. Column widths, header shading, borders and the date format are all set. The workbook is assembled in your browser — nothing is uploaded to build it.
Change a quantity and the subtotal, tax and total all follow.
SUMPRODUCT across per-line rates, not a blended average.
Built from the currency — no decimals for yen, three for the dinar.
Column widths, header shading, borders and date formats set.
Not a CSV with a different extension.
Every field you fill in becomes a cell in the workbook.
The number format is built from it — right decimals, right symbol.
A real workbook, not a CSV with a different extension.
Change a quantity and the subtotal, tax and total all follow.
Clear the client and the lines first, then Save As .xltx.
Yes. Line totals, the subtotal, the tax and the grand total are all formulas. Change a quantity or a price and everything recalculates, which is the whole point of an invoice in a spreadsheet.
Yes. It is a standard .xlsx, so Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, Numbers and every mobile spreadsheet app open it, formulas and all.
For a single rate, as a formula over the subtotal. For mixed rates, as a SUMPRODUCT of each line amount against its own rate — which is the correct way and the thing hand-made templates usually get wrong.
Yes, but insert them inside the existing range rather than below it, so the SUM picks them up. Inserting a row between the first and last item extends the range automatically; adding one after the last does not.
No. The workbook is assembled in your browser, using a zip writer that already lives in this site’s own code. Nothing about the invoice leaves your machine.
