About the Tax Invoice Generator

A tax invoice is a specific document, not a synonym for an invoice. It is the evidence your customer uses to reclaim the tax you charged, so tax law sets out what it must contain: the words "tax invoice", a unique number, both parties’ names, addresses and registration numbers, the date and tax point, a description of the supply, the taxable amount, the rate, and the tax charged.

This builder puts every one of those on the page by default. The document title is set, the registration fields are open for both sides, the tax column prints per line, the totals show one row per rate, and the amount in words is switched on — which India, Bangladesh and much of the Gulf expect on every tax invoice.

Tax can be charged on top of your prices or already inside them, and where an invoice mixes rates each rate gets its own taxable base rather than a blended average, because that is what a return is filed on.

Key features of the Tax Invoice Generator

Both registration numbers

Yours and your customer’s, which the customer’s claim depends on.

Rate-by-rate totals

Each rate gets its own taxable base, as a return is filed on.

Inclusive or exclusive

Tax backed out of inclusive prices correctly, not multiplied onto them.

Amount in words

In the right scale — lakh and crore, or thousands and millions.

Tax note field

For reverse charge, margin scheme or any local declaration.

How to use the Tax Invoice Generator

  1. 1

    Enter both registration numbers

Yours and your customer’s. A tax invoice without the customer’s number may not support their claim.

  2. 2

    Set the rate and treatment

Choose whether tax is added to your prices or already included, and set the label to VAT, GST or your local term.

  3. 3

Use per-line rates where they differ

Each rate gets its own taxable base and its own line in the totals.

  4. 4

    Check the tax point

The issue date is the tax point for most supplies. Where yours differs, note it in the tax note field.

  5. 5

    Print and file

Save a PDF for the customer and export JSON or UBL for your records.
