Consulting Invoice Generator
Bill by day rate, retainer or deliverable, with the engagement reference.
Charge more against an invoice already issued, with the reason recorded.
The Debit Invoice generator adds to an invoice already issued — an under-billing, extra work, omitted freight or a tax correction — naming the original, applying tax to the addition, and printing the notice that stops it being paid twice.
A debit note is the mirror of a credit note: it increases what is owed against an invoice already issued. It is the right document when you under-billed, when extra work was done outside the original scope, when freight or a charge was omitted, or when a tax rate was applied wrongly and the correction goes upwards.
The reason it exists rather than just re-issuing the invoice is the same as for a credit note: the original has been sent, numbered and probably entered into the customer’s system, and changing it after the fact breaks both sets of records. A debit note is a new document that adjusts it and leaves both trails intact.
This builder names the original invoice, records the reason, and applies tax at the correct rate on the additional amount. It also prints the notice a debit note needs — that it is an addition to an earlier invoice rather than a duplicate of it — which is what stops it being paid twice or not at all.
Number and date in the header, so both ledgers reconcile.
Never the whole invoice again.

Its number and date, in the header.
The extra amount or the extra work — never the whole invoice again.
Under-billing, extra work, omitted freight or a tax correction.
At the rate that applied to the original supply.
The notice that stops it being paid twice, or ignored.
When the charge relates to a supply already invoiced — an under-billing, an omitted charge or a tax correction. Genuinely new work is a new invoice, not a debit note against an old one.
Functionally very little: both create a debt. The difference is that a debit note explicitly adjusts an identified earlier invoice, which is what makes both parties’ records reconcile.
Yes, and in retail it is common — a buyer raises a debit note against a supplier for short deliveries, damages or agreed rebates. The supplier then issues a matching credit note.
Yes, at the rate applicable to the original supply, and it should show the net, the rate and the tax separately just as an invoice does.
