The TSV to CSV Converter turns tab-separated text — the format you get when copying cells out of a spreadsheet — into standards-compliant CSV, quoting exactly the fields that need it.
Copy a block of cells out of Excel, Google Sheets or a database client and what lands on your clipboard is tab-separated text. The importer on the other side almost always wants CSV — and wants it quoted correctly, because the moment a value contains a comma an unquoted file falls apart.
Paste the tab-separated text here and get standards-compliant CSV. Fields containing the delimiter, a quote mark or a line break are quoted and their inner quotes doubled, exactly as RFC 4180 requires. Choose comma, semicolon or pipe as the output delimiter, quote only what needs it or every field, and pick LF or CRLF line endings. A UTF-8 BOM can be added so Excel displays accented and Bangla text correctly instead of mojibake.
Fields with commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted and inner quotes doubled.
Comma, semicolon for European Excel, or pipe.
An optional UTF-8 BOM stops accented and Bangla text turning into mojibake.
Force quotes around every field when the importer needs values kept as text.
Turning quoting off when fields contain the delimiter is flagged, not ignored.
Straight from a spreadsheet, a database client or a .tsv file.
Comma for standard CSV, semicolon for European Excel, or pipe.
Only where needed is right for almost everything; quote-everything suits fussy importers.
Add the BOM first if the file is going to be opened in Excel.
When the importer treats unquoted values as numbers and you need them kept as text — reference codes with leading zeros, for example. Otherwise quoting only what needs it keeps the file readable.
A three-byte marker at the start of the file that tells Excel the text is UTF-8. Without it, Excel guesses a legacy code page and accented or Bangla characters turn into symbols.
A semicolon, because in those locales the comma is the decimal separator. If your CSV opens in one column in Excel, the delimiter is usually why.
Yes. A value containing a line break is quoted, which keeps it in one field — the standard behaviour that spreadsheets understand.
