What is inside it
The SVG Viewer puts markup and render side by side, updating as you type, and reports what is actually in the file: viewBox, element count, every colour used, external font and image references, and whether it has an intrinsic size. That last group is what makes an SVG render blank elsewhere.
SVG is text, which is its great advantage and the reason it is awkward to work with: you cannot tell what a block of markup draws without rendering it.
This is markup on one side and the render on the other, updating as you type. Alongside the preview it reports what is actually in the file — the viewBox, the element count, every colour used, whether it references external fonts or images, and whether it has an intrinsic size. That last group is what causes most of the confusion when an SVG renders blank in a canvas or an email, so it is called out rather than left to be discovered.
The preview follows every keystroke, which is the fastest way to adjust a fill or a path.
Missing viewBox, zero dimensions and external references are called out rather than discovered later.
Every fill and stroke colour listed, which is how you find the one hard-coded value in an icon set.
A quick read on complexity, and on whether a file needs optimising before shipping.
Rasterise the current markup at any size without leaving the page.
Or load a file. It renders as you type.
viewBox, element count, colours and any external references.
Change a fill or a path and see it immediately.
The tidied markup, or a PNG at any size.
Usually a missing viewBox, zero width and height, or a reference to an external font or image. All three are flagged in the report.
It defines the coordinate system the contents are drawn in, and lets the SVG scale to any size. Without one, the file has no intrinsic scaling behaviour.
Yes — the markup is editable and the preview follows every keystroke, which is the fastest way to adjust a colour or a path.
No. It is rendered by your own browser from the text in the box, so nothing is transmitted.
