The Social Media Image Size Guide is the reference table: every current image slot across Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest, with pixel dimensions, aspect ratio and what the slot is for. Any row generates a correctly sized placeholder on the spot.
Every platform has half a dozen image slots and each has its own dimensions, and they change often enough that a remembered number is usually out of date.
This is the reference table: every current size for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest, with the pixel dimensions, the aspect ratio and a note on what the slot is for. Each row can generate a correctly sized placeholder image on the spot, which is the quickest way to check a layout, and the whole table filters by platform so you are not scrolling past six networks to find one number.
Seven networks and every slot each of them has, rather than the three everyone remembers.
Any row makes a correctly sized test image with one click, which is the fastest way to check a layout.
Narrow to one network instead of scrolling past six to find a number.
The aspect ratio is given too, which is what actually matters when a platform resizes.
A note on the use, so it is obvious which of a platform's six sizes you need.
Or leave it on all and search for the slot you need.
Pixel size, aspect ratio and what the slot is used for.

Take the dimensions straight into your design tool.
1080 by 1080. A square works as an Instagram post, a Facebook post, a LinkedIn post and a Pinterest pin, so one asset covers four platforms.
1200 by 630, a ratio of 1.91:1. That is the Open Graph standard and Facebook, LinkedIn and X all use it for a large card.
Every year or two, usually as a refinement rather than a redesign. Sizes that are close to the current ones are resized rather than rejected.
A 1080 square covers most feeds, but stories and reels need 1080 by 1920 and link cards need 1200 by 630. Three assets cover almost everything.
