JSON to CSV

Turn a JSON array into a spreadsheet-ready CSV file.

About the JSON to CSV

Paste an array of JSON objects and get back a CSV that opens cleanly in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. Column headers are collected from every object in the array, so records with different keys still line up correctly rather than silently losing fields.

Nested objects are flattened using dot notation — an address object becomes address.city and address.postcode columns — and arrays are joined into a single cell. Values containing commas, quotes or line breaks are escaped to the RFC 4180 standard, which is the part hand-rolled converters usually get wrong. You can choose a comma, semicolon or tab delimiter; semicolon is what Excel expects in most European locales.

Key features of the JSON to CSV

Headers from every record

Columns are collected across all objects in the array, so records with different keys line up instead of silently losing fields.

Nested objects flattened

An address object becomes address.city and address.postcode columns rather than an unusable blob in one cell.

Proper RFC 4180 escaping

Values containing commas, quotes or line breaks are escaped correctly — the part hand-rolled converters usually get wrong.

Three delimiters

Comma, semicolon or tab; semicolon is what Excel expects in most European locales.

Arrays joined sensibly

List values are joined into a single readable cell instead of being dropped.
