Check any tax number on an invoice — VAT, GSTIN, ABN, EIN, PAN or IBAN — against its own rule.
The Invoice Tax ID Validator takes any tax number off an invoice — VAT, GSTIN, PAN, ABN, ACN, EIN or IBAN — works out which scheme it belongs to, checks it against that scheme’s rule, and says exactly what has and has not been established.
A tax number on an invoice you receive is a claim. Usually it is correct; sometimes it is mistyped; occasionally, on a fraudulent invoice, it is invented. Most tax numbers carry a check digit, which means a typo can be caught without asking anyone — and an invented number almost always fails it.
Paste one number or a column of them. Each is tried against every scheme here — EU and UK VAT numbers with their per-country formats and check digits, Indian GSTIN and PAN, Australian ABN and ACN, US EIN, and IBANs by the mod-97 rule — and the result says which scheme it matched, what it means, and what has actually been established.
That last part is the point. A correct check digit proves the number is well formed, not that it belongs to the company printed beside it. Only the tax authority’s own register — VIES, HMRC, ABN Lookup, the GST portal — proves that, and each result says so.
You do not have to know what the number is.

No. It means it is correctly formed and, where the scheme has one, that the check digit is right. Ownership can only be confirmed in the official register.
Because each country has its own format and check rule. Without GB, DE or IE at the front there is nothing to check it against.
