Work out GST at any rate, and split it into CGST, SGST or IGST for India.
The Invoice GST Calculator works at every Indian slab rate and the flat rates used in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Canada, splits Indian GST into CGST and SGST or shows it as IGST, and handles compensation cess.
GST arithmetic is the same everywhere — add the rate, or divide it out of an inclusive price — but the presentation differs, and in India the presentation is the part that matters. Within one state a rate splits into CGST and SGST at half each; across state lines it is a single IGST at the full rate. The total is identical, the invoice is not, and the return certainly is not.
This calculates both, at the Indian slab rates of 0%, 0.25%, 3%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, and at the flat rates used in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Canada. It works in both directions, so a GST-inclusive price entered as a gross figure is split correctly rather than multiplied.
Cess is handled too, where it applies — a compensation cess on top of the GST rate for tobacco, aerated drinks, coal and larger cars, calculated on the taxable value rather than on the GST-inclusive figure.
Decided by whether the place of supply is in-state.
0, 0.25, 3, 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent.
Calculated on the taxable value, not the GST-inclusive figure.
Inclusive prices divided out rather than multiplied.
Australia 10%, New Zealand 15%, Singapore 9%, Canada 5%.
Net or GST-inclusive; both directions are worked out.
Indian slab rates, or the flat rate in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore or Canada.
Same state splits into CGST and SGST; interstate shows one IGST line.
Calculated on the taxable value, not on the GST-inclusive figure.
Exactly as it has to appear on the invoice.
When the place of supply is in a different state or union territory from the supplier, and for imports and exports. Within one state the same rate splits into CGST and SGST at half each.
Divide by one plus the rate. At 18%, ₹11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000 taxable and ₹1,800 GST, which splits into ₹900 CGST and ₹900 SGST for an intra-state supply.
Zero, 0.25% on rough diamonds, 3% on gold and precious metals, and 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% on everything else, with a compensation cess on certain goods on top of the 28% rate.
Yes, where the discount is given at or before the time of supply and shown on the invoice. A discount agreed afterwards needs a credit note to reduce the GST already charged.
