About the Invoice Currency Converter

Every currency converter online gives you today’s mid-market rate. An invoice does not use today’s mid-market rate. It uses the rate in the contract, or the rate your tax authority publishes for the month, or the rate your bank actually gave you after its margin — and those three can differ by several per cent on the same day.

So this tool asks you for the rate rather than guessing it. Paste or type the invoice lines, give it the rate you are required to use, and it converts every line, recalculates the tax in both currencies, and shows the home-currency figure that most tax authorities want declared alongside the foreign-currency total.

It also shows what the conversion costs you. Enter the mid-market rate beside your bank’s rate and the spread is worked out as a percentage and an amount, which is usually the first time anyone sees what a "fee-free" transfer actually charged. No rate is ever fetched, so nothing about your invoice leaves the page.

Key features of the Invoice Currency Converter

Your rate, not a live one

An invoice uses the contract or published rate, not the rate at page load.

Tax in both currencies

The home-currency tax figure most authorities require declared.

The spread priced

Mid-market beside your bank’s rate shows what the transfer really cost.

Line by line

Every line converted, not just the total, so the invoice still adds up.

No request, ever

Nothing is fetched and nothing about the invoice is sent.

Frequently asked questions

Whichever your contract or your tax authority specifies. HMRC accepts its own published monthly rate, the spot rate, or the ECB rate; many other authorities publish a monthly rate you must use. What matters is that you state the rate, the source and the date, and stay consistent.
