About the Import Invoice Generator

An import invoice is one you receive rather than send, and the number that matters is not on it: the landed cost. What you actually paid for the goods is the supplier’s price plus freight, plus insurance, plus customs duty on the customs value, plus any import tax you cannot reclaim, plus clearance and handling — spread across the lines in the right proportion.

This builder records the supplier’s invoice and works that out. Enter the goods value, the Incoterm, the freight and insurance, and the duty rate, and it builds the customs value the way most authorities do — CIF, or FOB depending on the country — applies duty, applies import tax on the duty-inclusive value, and shows the landed cost per line and per unit.

That per-unit landed cost is the figure you price from. Working from the supplier’s price alone is how an importer discovers, six months in, that a product has been selling at a loss.
