VAT Invoice Generator
A VAT invoice with both VAT numbers, a rate breakdown and reverse-charge wording.
An Indian GST invoice with GSTIN, HSN codes and CGST, SGST or IGST worked out.
The GST Invoice Generator produces an Indian GST invoice with both GSTINs, HSN or SAC codes, and the tax split correctly — CGST plus SGST at half the rate each within a state, or a single IGST line across state lines — with the total in lakh and crore.
A GST invoice has rules that a generic invoice template does not follow, and the one that catches people out is the tax split. A supply within one state is taxed as CGST plus SGST, each at half the rate. A supply across state lines is taxed as a single IGST at the full rate. The total is the same; the document is not, and so the return is not.
This builder handles that with a switch. Pick same-state and the 18% becomes 9% CGST and 9% SGST on separate lines; pick interstate and it becomes one 18% IGST line. HSN codes for goods and SAC codes for services go in the code column, both GSTINs sit in the party blocks, and the amount in words is printed in the lakh and crore scale rather than millions.
It covers the common rates — 0%, 0.25%, 3%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% — and lets an invoice mix them per line, with each rate getting its own taxable value in the totals.
One switch changes the whole tax presentation, as the place of supply requires.
A code column for goods and services, line by line.
0%, 0.25%, 3%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, mixable per line.
Written in the lakh and crore scale an Indian invoice is read in.
The first two digits of a GSTIN name the state on the invoice.
Yours and your customer’s. The first two digits of a GSTIN are the state code.
Same state splits the rate into CGST and SGST. Interstate shows one IGST line.
HSN for goods, SAC for services. Turn on the code column and put one on each line.
A basket that mixes 5% and 18% needs per-line rates so each has its own taxable value.
Printed in lakh and crore, as an Indian invoice is read.
CGST and SGST apply when the place of supply is in the same state as the supplier — an intra-state supply. IGST applies when the place of supply is in a different state or union territory, or for imports and exports.
Name, address and GSTIN of the supplier; a consecutive serial number; the date; the recipient’s name, address and GSTIN; the HSN or SAC code; description, quantity and value of goods or services; the taxable value; the rate and amount of CGST, SGST, IGST or cess; the place of supply; and a signature.
The number of HSN digits required depends on your aggregate turnover, and small taxpayers supplying to unregistered buyers have relief. Where it is required, it must appear line by line.
HSN codes classify goods and come from the international Harmonised System. SAC codes classify services. An invoice can carry both if it supplies both.
It produces a compliant document and a CSV or JSON export of the figures, which you or your accountant can use when filing. It does not connect to the GST portal — nothing here touches the network.
