Event Schema Generator

Dates, venue, tickets and status as Event JSON-LD.

Venue

An online event needs a VirtualLocation, not an address. That is the mistake most webinar markup makes.

Tickets

Event JSON-LD

Your generated code appears here.

Quick Tool Overview

The Event Schema Generator writes Event JSON-LD for a venue, an online event or a hybrid of both, with ticket details as an Offer and an eventStatus for postponed and cancelled events. Choosing the attendance mode switches the location between a Place with an address and a VirtualLocation with a URL, which is the distinction most webinar markup gets wrong.

About the Event Schema Generator

Enter the event name, when it runs and where, and the generator writes the Event JSON-LD with the right location shape for a physical venue, an online event or a hybrid of both. Ticket details become an Offer, and the status field covers postponed and cancelled.

The attendance mode is the field that changed everything in 2020 and still trips people up. An offline event takes a Place with a postal address; an online event takes a VirtualLocation with a URL, and giving it a Place instead is the most common validation failure for webinars. A hybrid event needs both, in an array. Beyond that, startDate should carry a timezone offset rather than a bare date, because an event at 19:00 means different things in different places, and eventStatus lets you mark something as postponed or cancelled without deleting the page — which is what search engines would rather you did.

Key features of the Event Schema Generator

Attendance mode drives the shape

Offline gets a Place, online gets a VirtualLocation, hybrid gets both — automatically.

Ticket offers included

Price, currency, availability and the purchase URL are nested as a proper Offer.

Status for cancelled events

Mark an event postponed, rescheduled or cancelled instead of deleting the page, which is what search engines prefer.

Timezone-aware dates

Start and end times carry an offset, because an event at 19:00 means different things in different places.

Performer and organiser

Optional Person and Organization blocks for the people behind the event.

How to use the Event Schema Generator

  1. 1

    Name and date the event

Title, description, and start and end times with a timezone offset rather than bare dates.

  2. 2

    Choose the attendance mode

Offline, online or hybrid. The location fields change to match — a venue, a URL, or both.

  3. 3

    Add ticket details

Price, currency, availability and the URL people buy from become the Offer block.

  4. 4

    Set the status

Scheduled, postponed, rescheduled or cancelled. Update it rather than removing the page.

  5. 5

    Copy the script

Paste it into the event page and validate it before the event is announced.

Frequently asked questions

Set eventAttendanceMode to OnlineEventAttendanceMode and give the location as a VirtualLocation with the joining URL. Using a Place with an address for an online event is the single most common mistake in event markup and makes the item invalid.
