The Basic Calculator is a four-function desk calculator with memory keys and a running tape. Press the keys or type on your keyboard, read the display, and see every step you took listed beside it so you can show how you got there.
A plain four-function calculator that behaves the way a desk calculator does: press the keys, read the display, and see every step you took listed on the tape beside it.
Full keyboard support is the point. Digits, the operator keys, Enter for equals, Backspace to delete a digit and Escape to clear all work exactly as you would expect, so you can type a sum as fast as you can think it. Memory keys hold a running total between calculations, percent converts the displayed number in place, and the tape keeps a history you can copy into a spreadsheet or an email when someone asks how you got there.

Every step is listed beside the display and can be copied into a spreadsheet or an email when someone asks how you got there.
Hold a running total between calculations the way a desk calculator does.
The percent key converts the displayed number where it stands, for quick discounts and markups.
Opens instantly in any browser, free and with no sign-up.
Click the keypad or type on your keyboard. Digits, the decimal point and the operators all map to the usual keys.
Choose add, subtract, multiply or divide, then enter the second number.
Click equals or press Enter. The answer stays on the display, ready to be used in the next calculation.
Every completed calculation is listed on the tape so you can retrace or copy your working.
Yes. Number keys, the four operators, Enter for equals, Backspace to delete the last digit and Escape to clear are all wired up, so the whole calculator can be driven from the keyboard.
M+ adds the displayed number to memory, M- subtracts it, MR recalls the stored value onto the display and MC clears memory. Memory survives between calculations, which is handy for adding up a column of subtotals.
It converts the number on the display to its decimal form, so 50 becomes 0.5. In a sum such as 200 x 15%, that gives 30, which matches how a standard desk calculator behaves.
No. The tape lives in the page only. Refresh or close the tab and it is gone, because nothing is sent to a server or written to your device.
