HTML Formatter
Re-indent HTML without breaking whitespace-sensitive elements.
Render Markdown to clean HTML, with tables, task lists and fenced code.
The Markdown to HTML converter renders to plain semantic HTML with no wrapper divs and no classes, supporting headings, nested lists, task lists, tables, blockquotes and fenced code with a language class.
Paste Markdown and get the HTML it renders to — no build step, no static site generator, no paste into a CMS and hope. The output is plain semantic HTML with no wrapper divs and no class attributes, so it drops into any page and inherits its styles.
The supported syntax is the one people write: ATX and setext headings, bold, italic, strikethrough and inline code, links and images with optional titles, nested ordered and unordered lists, task lists with checkboxes, blockquotes, horizontal rules, fenced code blocks with a language class, and GitHub-flavoured tables with column alignment. Code inside fences and spans is escaped rather than interpreted, so a snippet containing angle brackets shows as written.
The rendered result is shown next to the HTML, so you can confirm it looks right before copying anything.
GitHub-flavoured tables with column alignment, and checkbox task lists, both render the way they do on GitHub.
Angle brackets inside a fence or a code span show as written rather than becoming markup.
Apart from the language class syntax highlighters need, the HTML is plain and inherits your page styles.
Add slug ids to headings so the document has working anchor links wherever you paste it.
A README, a blog post, documentation or notes.
Add ids to headings for anchor links, or make links open in a new tab.
The rendered result is shown beside the HTML so you can confirm it looks right.
Paste it into a page, an email template or a CMS.
Yes. A block that starts with an HTML tag is passed through untouched, which is how Markdown has always handled it and what makes badges and custom blocks work.
Yes, including column alignment set with colons in the divider row. Tables are a GitHub-flavoured extension rather than core Markdown, but essentially every renderer supports them.
Only the language class on fenced code blocks, which syntax highlighters need. Everything else is plain semantic HTML that inherits your page styles.
Text is escaped, but raw HTML in the source is passed through by design. Never insert the result of converting untrusted Markdown without sanitising it first.
