About the Mailto Link Generator

A mailto: link opens the visitor’s own email client with everything already filled in, which turns a contact instruction into a single click — but hand-writing one is where the encoding usually goes wrong.

Spaces, line breaks, ampersands and apostrophes all have to be percent-encoded, and a single unencoded character can silently truncate the whole message body. This tool encodes each part correctly, keeps cc and bcc separated properly, and shows the result as you type.

You get both the plain link, ready for a QR code or a button URL field, and an HTML anchor snippet to paste straight into a page.

Key features of the Mailto Link Generator

Correct encoding

Spaces, line breaks and ampersands are percent-encoded, so the body never truncates.

Cc and bcc supported

Comma-separated lists are handled properly in both fields.

Two output formats

A plain link for a button URL, and HTML for a web page.

Runs in your browser

No sign-up, no data sent anywhere.

How to use the Mailto Link Generator

  1. 1

    Enter the recipients

One address in the To field, and optionally several in cc or bcc separated by commas.

  2. 2

    Add a subject and body

Both are optional. Line breaks in the body are encoded for you.

  3. 3

Copy the link or the HTML

The plain link for a button URL, or the anchor snippet for a web page.

Frequently asked questions

Almost always an unencoded character — an ampersand in the body ends the parameter early, and a raw space or line break can break it too. This tool percent-encodes every part, which fixes that.
