About the Invoice to Excel

Excel is where invoices go to be checked, totalled and questioned. Getting one into it usually means retyping, because the invoice arrived as a PDF, an XML file or an API response.

This takes an invoice in whatever form you have — the JSON these tools export, UBL or CII e-invoice XML, plain invoice XML, a PDF, or text pasted out of an email — and writes a real .xlsx workbook. Two shapes: a formatted invoice template, where the line totals, subtotal, tax and grand total are live formulas so changing a quantity updates everything below it; or plain rows, one per line item, for analysis.

It is a genuine workbook, not a CSV with a spreadsheet extension: number formats follow the currency — no decimals for yen, three for the dinar — columns are sized, and the header is frozen. Everything is built in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

In the template shape they are real formulas — change a quantity and the subtotal, tax and total follow. In the rows shape they are values, because a data table is for filtering and pivoting.
