About the Invoice in CHF

Switzerland has the lowest VAT rate in Europe — 8.1% standard since January 2024, with 2.6% on food, books and medicines and 3.8% on accommodation. A registered business shows a VAT number in the form CHE-123.456.789 MWST, and the abbreviation changes with the language: MWST in German, TVA in French, IVA in Italian.

Two mechanical details matter. The one-rappen and two-rappen coins are long gone, so cash totals are rounded to the nearest five rappen and the adjustment is conventionally shown as its own line — which this builder does. And since October 2022 the Swiss payment slip has been the QR-bill: a single A4 sheet with a payment part carrying a Swiss QR code and a QR-IBAN.

A QR-bill is a specific layout with its own perforation and field positions, so a general invoice template cannot be one. What this produces is a correct Swiss invoice with the QR-IBAN, the reference and the amount, which is what most B2B customers actually pay from.
