The Weight Watcher Points Calculator converts a nutrition label into a points value using the published classic and PointsPlus formulas, and estimates a daily allowance from your details. It is an independent implementation and is not affiliated with WW International.
Convert a nutrition label into points and estimate a daily allowance from your age, sex, height and weight. Both published formulas are implemented: the original points system, which uses calories, fat and fibre, and PointsPlus, which uses protein, carbs, fat and fibre.
The appeal of a points system is that it compresses a label into one number that is quick to budget with, and it deliberately penalises fat while discounting fibre so that the number nudges you toward more filling food at the same calorie count. This is an independent implementation of the historical formulas for educational use; it is not affiliated with WW International, and the current commercial system uses a proprietary personalised algorithm that no calculator can reproduce.
Classic points from calories, fat and fibre, and PointsPlus from protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre.
Both figures are shown, since the pack total is what actually gets eaten more often than anyone admits.
A points budget from age, sex, height and weight, plus the weekly flexible allowance.
Why fat is penalised and fibre discounted, so the number makes sense rather than being magic.
Stated plainly on the page — the current commercial program uses a proprietary personalised algorithm.
Classic points from calories, fat and fibre, or PointsPlus from protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre.
Enter the values per serving exactly as printed.
The points value for one serving and for the whole pack.
Enter your details for a daily points budget and a weekly allowance.
The classic formula is calories divided by 50, plus fat grams divided by 12, minus fibre grams divided by 5, with fibre capped at 4 grams. PointsPlus instead weights protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre.
No. It implements the published historical formulas and is not affiliated with or endorsed by WW International. The current commercial program uses a proprietary personalised algorithm.
Historic allowances ran from about 18 to 40 points a day depending on sex, age, height and weight. The calculator estimates a figure using the published formula, plus a weekly flexible allowance.
Because fibre adds bulk and slows digestion without contributing much usable energy, so the formula discounts it to steer you toward foods that are more filling per point.
