Gross pay before deductions
Gross pay only — tax, national insurance and other deductions are not applied. Whether a break is paid depends on your jurisdiction and contract, so enter only the unpaid ones. Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.
The Time Card Calculator totals a week of work from clock-in and clock-out times, subtracts unpaid breaks, splits the result into regular and overtime hours, and calculates gross pay — handling overnight shifts correctly, which is where most timesheet maths fails.
Add up a week of work from clock-in and clock-out times, subtracting unpaid breaks and splitting the total into regular and overtime hours. Gross pay is calculated from your hourly rate and an overtime multiplier.
Overnight shifts are handled properly, which is where most timesheet arithmetic goes wrong: a shift clocking in at 22:00 and out at 06:00 is eight hours, not minus sixteen, and the calculator recognises that automatically. Totals are shown in both decimal hours and hours and minutes, because payroll systems want 7.75 while people think in 7 hours 45. Everything stays in your browser, so no timesheet data is uploaded anywhere.
A 22:00 to 06:00 shift reads as 8 hours, not minus 16 — the calculator detects the midnight crossing.
Payroll wants 7.75 while people think in 7 hours 45, so both are shown.
Per day, in minutes, so paid rest breaks and unpaid meal breaks can be treated differently.
40 hours is the default, adjustable for different rules and multipliers.
Timesheet data stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
Clock in and clock out times, plus any unpaid break in minutes.
Hourly pay and the overtime multiplier, usually 1.5.
40 hours a week is the common default; adjust for your rules.
Regular and overtime hours in decimal and in hours and minutes, plus gross pay.
Subtract the clock-in time from the clock-out time, then subtract any unpaid break. Convert to decimal by dividing minutes by 60 — 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75.
Hours beyond the weekly threshold, commonly 40, are paid at a multiplier — usually 1.5 times the normal rate. Some jurisdictions also use a daily threshold.
When the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, the shift has crossed midnight. The calculator adds a day automatically, so 22:00 to 06:00 correctly reads as 8 hours.
Unpaid breaks are deducted from paid time; paid rest breaks are not. Which is which depends on your jurisdiction and contract, so enter only the unpaid ones.
