Sleep Calculator
Bedtimes and wake times that land between sleep cycles.
Solve speed, distance or time and convert between speed units.
speed = distance ÷ time
Fill in two, leave the third blank.

Not the average of the speeds — total distance over total time.

The Speed Calculator solves for speed, distance or time from the other two, and converts every answer into kilometres per hour, miles per hour, metres per second and knots. An average speed panel handles journeys made of several legs — which is not the average of the speeds.
Enter any two of speed, distance and time to get the third. Speed is the distance covered divided by the time taken, and the same relationship rearranges to give distance as speed times time, or time as distance divided by speed.
Every answer is converted into the four units people actually use — kilometres per hour, miles per hour, metres per second and knots — because the unit a figure arrives in is rarely the one you need it in. There is also an average speed panel for a journey made of several legs at different speeds, which is not simply the average of those speeds: it is total distance over total time, and the difference between the two is a classic trap.
km/h, mph, metres per second and knots, because the unit a figure arrives in is rarely the one you need.
Distance over time, speed times time, or distance over speed — the calculator picks the right form.
Total distance over total time, not the average of the leg speeds — the difference is a classic trap.
Enter a distance in miles and a time in minutes without converting first.
Every conversion updates as you type.
Fill in any two of speed, distance and time, and leave the one you want blank.
Choose the units for distance and speed independently — mixing kilometres with miles per hour is handled.
The speed is shown in kph, mph, metres per second and knots at the same time.
Speed equals distance divided by time. Rearranged, distance equals speed times time, and time equals distance divided by speed.
Multiply by 0.621371. So 100 kph is about 62.1 mph. To go the other way, multiply mph by 1.60934.
Because you spend more time at the slower speed. Driving 60 km at 60 kph then 60 km at 120 kph takes 1.5 hours for 120 km, giving an average of 80 kph, not 90.
One nautical mile per hour, used in aviation and at sea. It equals about 1.852 kilometres per hour or 1.151 miles per hour.
