About the MCP Config Generator

The Model Context Protocol lets an AI client use external tools — a filesystem, a database, a browser, GitHub — through small servers. Adding one means editing a JSON config file, and every client wants a slightly different shape, a different key and a different file location.

Choose the client, name the server and pick a transport. For a local stdio server, give the command, arguments one per line and environment variables; for a remote server, give the URL and any headers. The generator writes the entry in the exact format that client expects: mcpServers for Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf, servers for VS Code, a type field for Claude Code, serverUrl for Windsurf, and the mcp-remote bridge for a remote server in the Claude Desktop config file. Presets cover filesystem, memory, fetch, Postgres, Playwright and a remote GitHub server.

Paste your current config and the new server is merged in without touching the others. The tool warns about the usual failures — npx without -y waiting for a prompt nobody can answer, Windows needing cmd /c, duplicate server names and live secrets in a file you might commit — and, for Claude Code, also writes the equivalent claude mcp add command.
