Check a mailto: link and every address and field in it.
The Mailto Link Validator pulls a mailto: URL apart: every to, cc and bcc address is validated, the subject and body are decoded, and anything needing percent-encoding comes back fixed.
A mailto: link that half works is a familiar problem: the address opens fine but the subject line arrives truncated at the first space, or the body loses every line break. Both come from the same cause, which is that a mailto: URL has to be percent-encoded and usually is not.
Paste the link and this pulls it apart: every address in the to, cc and bcc fields is validated individually, the subject and body are decoded and checked for the characters that need escaping, and unknown fields are flagged. Anything that needs encoding is shown with the corrected link beside it, ready to copy.
It also catches the structural mistakes — a missing colon, a stray slash borrowed from http://, addresses separated by a semicolon where the specification wants a comma.
To, cc and bcc addresses validated individually.
The corrected link is built for you, ready to copy.
See the subject and body as the mail client will receive them.
Semicolon separators and raw line breaks are flagged.
The link is parsed in your browser, never opened or sent.
The whole thing, including any subject and body parameters.
Every to, cc and bcc address is validated on its own.
Subject and body are decoded so you can see what arrives.
Anything that needed encoding is fixed for you.
Because it is not percent-encoded. A raw space or ampersand ends the parameter early, so the subject truncates at the first one. Encoding the value fixes it, and this tool shows the encoded link.
Encode it as %0D%0A. A literal newline in the href is not valid in a URL and different mail clients handle it differently.
Yes, separated by commas — not semicolons, despite what some mail clients accept. This tool flags a semicolon as a portability problem.
Yes. Every address in every recipient field is validated separately, so one bad cc does not hide behind a good to.
