About the Favicon Package Generator

A favicon used to be one 16-pixel file. A modern site wants an ICO for legacy browsers, PNGs at several sizes, an Apple touch icon, Android maskable icons, a web manifest describing them and the HTML linking it all together.

That is a fiddly checklist to get right by hand, and this produces the whole set from one source image. Each size is rendered separately rather than downscaled from a single render, so the small ones stay legible.
