Crop Image to Aspect Ratio locks the crop frame to the exact shape you are publishing to, so what you see is what ships. Presets cover 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, 3:2 and 2:3, and any other ratio can be typed in. The frame opens at the largest crop the ratio allows, centred, which is usually most of the way to the answer.
Every platform wants a different shape, and getting it wrong is what produces the awkward automatic crop that cuts someone's head off. Pick the ratio you are publishing to and the frame is constrained to it, so the crop you see is exactly the crop that ships.
The presets cover the ratios that actually come up — 1:1 for a square post, 4:5 for the tallest shape a feed will accept, 16:9 for video thumbnails and slides, 9:16 for stories and reels, 3:2 and 2:3 for photographic prints. Any other ratio can be typed in directly. The frame defaults to the largest crop the ratio allows, centred, which is usually most of the way there before you have touched anything.
Square, 4:5 feed, 16:9 thumbnail, 9:16 story, 3:2 and 2:3 print — one click each, no arithmetic.
Type any two numbers, such as 21:9 or 1.85:1, and the frame locks to that shape immediately.
The frame opens as the largest crop the ratio allows, centred, so a lot of images need no adjustment at all.
Cropping only discards pixels outside the frame. The kept area stays at its original resolution and sharpness.
The image's existing ratio is displayed on load, so you can see how much reshaping the target actually needs.
Drop in the photo you need reshaped. The current ratio is shown so you know how far off it is.
Choose a preset, or type a custom ratio such as 21:9 into the two fields.
The frame is locked to the ratio, so you only decide which part of the picture it covers.
Download the crop at full resolution in PNG or JPEG.
Use 1:1 for a plain square post, 4:5 for the tallest feed post allowed — which takes up the most screen — and 9:16 for stories and reels.
It changes them only by cropping. The kept area stays at its original resolution; nothing is scaled up or resampled, so no sharpness is invented or lost.
Yes. Type any two numbers into the custom ratio fields — 21:9, 5:4, 1.85:1 — and the frame locks to that shape.
The frame covers the whole picture and the download matches the original. The tool tells you the current ratio at the top so you can see that before cropping.
