A conversion is whatever you count as one: a purchase, a sign-up, a trial or a booking.
Cost per acquisition
—
The Cost Per Acquisition Calculator turns ad spend and conversions into a CPA figure instantly, with profit per conversion and CPA as a share of order value once you add value and margin.
Cost per acquisition is what most ad platforms mean when they report "cost per conversion": total spend divided by the conversions it produced, whether that conversion is a purchase, a sign-up, a trial or a booking.
Enter spend and conversions to get the CPA immediately. Add the average value of a conversion and your gross margin and the calculator shows the profit left after acquisition cost, plus CPA as a share of order value — the quickest way to spot a campaign that is buying conversions for more than they are worth.
CPA updates live as spend or conversions change.
Add conversion value and margin to see what is left after acquisition cost.

Updates instantly, with the working shown below.
CPA = Total spend ÷ Number of conversions. $7,500 spent for 150 conversions is a CPA of $50.
CPA counts any conversion you have defined, including free trials and sign-ups. CAC counts only new paying customers, and usually includes wider sales and marketing costs rather than ad spend alone.
A CPA is good when it sits comfortably below the profit a conversion generates. There is no universal target — a $200 CPA is excellent for enterprise software and ruinous for a $30 product.
Ad platforms count conversions they can attribute to themselves, often with generous view-through windows, and exclude agency fees and tooling. A CPA worked out from your own totals is usually the more conservative and more useful number.
