About the Chat Transcript Formatter

Chat logs copied out of a support desk, Slack, WhatsApp, a meeting tool or an AI chat arrive messy: timestamps on every line, one thought split across five messages, sentences broken mid-line, and speaker names that need changing before the log can be shared or used.

Paste the log and it is read into turns by speaker, with continuation lines rejoined to the message they belong to. Timestamps are removed, consecutive messages from one person are merged, lines broken mid-sentence are rejoined, and speakers can be renamed or replaced with User and Assistant. Text copied straight from ChatGPT or Claude, with its You said and ChatGPT said lines, is recognised too.

Export a Markdown transcript with bold names, a plain transcript, question and answer pairs for an FAQ or a training set, a JSON messages array for an API or evaluation, or CSV for a spreadsheet. A summary shows how many turns and words each speaker contributed.
