Add them in order — before first · both should share the same framing
The Before After Slider Maker produces both forms of comparison: a static split image that works anywhere an image works, and a self-contained HTML file with a draggable divider, images embedded and no external dependencies. Labels, divider style and starting position are adjustable in both.
Before-and-after comparisons are how retouching, renovations and restorations are shown, and there are two ways to present one: as a static split, or as a draggable slider.
Both come out of this page. The static version puts the two images either side of a divider at a position you choose, which works anywhere an image works — email, print, a PDF. The interactive version is a single self-contained HTML file with the images embedded and no external dependencies, so it can be dropped into any page or opened on its own. Labels, divider style and starting position are adjustable in both.
A PNG for email, print and PDFs; a draggable slider for a web page.
One HTML file with both images inlined and no CDN, so it works offline and cannot break later.
Before and after captions drawn onto the image, which most comparison tools leave you to add yourself.
Open the divider over the most changed area so the difference is obvious before anyone drags anything.
Different-sized images are fitted to a common frame, with the page explaining why matching framing matters.
The two images should be the same size and framing for the comparison to work.
Mismatched sizes are fitted, but the effect is much weaker.
Choose the split position, the divider style and the labels.
A static PNG, or a self-contained HTML file with the slider built in.
They should be, and ideally the same framing too. Different sizes are fitted to a common frame, but if the subject moves between them the comparison stops reading.
A single file with both images embedded as data URIs and a small amount of inline script. No external files, no CDN, so it works offline and cannot break later.
Use the static split image — email clients strip script, so the interactive version will not work there.
Around the middle for a general comparison, or over the most changed area when you want the difference obvious before anyone drags anything.
