About the Time Duration Calculator

Find the exact time between two moments, whether that is two clock times on the same day or two full dates and times weeks apart. The result is broken into days, hours, minutes and seconds, and given as a total in each unit separately.

A second mode does duration arithmetic rather than differences: adding or subtracting spans of time from a starting point, which is the calculation behind working out when a process will finish or when something started. Both handle crossing midnight correctly, and both work entirely in your browser using the Intl date facilities rather than sending anything to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Convert both to minutes since midnight and subtract. If the result is negative the span crossed midnight, so add 24 hours worth of minutes.
