About the Remove HTML Tags

Stripping HTML with a naive find-and-replace produces a mess: every paragraph runs into the next, script and style contents end up in the middle of your text, and every & stays as literal characters instead of becoming an ampersand.

This tool parses the markup rather than pattern-matching it. Script and style blocks are removed with their contents, block-level elements become real line breaks so paragraphs and list items stay separated, HTML entities are decoded back into the characters they represent, and comments are dropped. The result is text a person can actually read, which is what you need when you are pulling copy out of a CMS export or an email template.

Key features of the Remove HTML Tags

Parsed, not pattern-matched

Script and style contents are removed rather than being dumped into the middle of your text, which is what a regex does.

Entities decoded

& becomes &,   becomes a space and numeric entities resolve, so nothing is left as markup residue.

Paragraph structure kept

Paragraphs, list items, headings and line breaks become real breaks instead of one unbroken run of words.

Link addresses optional

Append each link's URL after its text so destinations are not silently lost with the markup.

Safe with untrusted markup

Parsing happens in an inert document that never executes scripts or loads external resources.
