The Markdown to BBCode Converter rewrites Markdown as forum tags — headings, emphasis, lists, quotes, links, images and fenced code blocks — so notes can be posted without reformatting.
Release notes, documentation, changelogs and half the internet’s notes are written in Markdown. Forums and game communities still run on BBCode, and pasting Markdown into one gives a post full of asterisks and hashes.
Paste Markdown and get BBCode. Headings become bold — or bold inside [size] where your forum allows it — while **bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~, `inline code`, links, images, blockquotes and both kinds of list convert to their tags. Fenced code blocks become [code] with their contents untouched, so nothing inside them is turned into formatting. It is the fastest way to move a changelog from a README to an announcement thread.
Bulleted and numbered lists become [list] and [list=1].
Fenced blocks become [code] with nothing inside them formatted.
[text](url) and become [url] and [img] tags.
Bold everywhere, or bold inside [size] where the forum allows it.
Underscores inside words are left alone, as Markdown intends.
Release notes, a README section, or any notes.
Bold everywhere, or bold inside [size].
Paste it into the forum’s post box.
Forums vary in which tags they accept.
Most forums have no table BBCode, so a table is left as it is. Post it inside a code block, or convert it separately if your forum supports [table].
Yes. ``` blocks become [code] and their contents are left untouched, so asterisks and underscores inside code stay literal.
Yes — [text](url) becomes [url=url]text[/url] and becomes [img=alt]src[/img], which is the form most forums expect.
They are flattened to a single level, because BBCode list nesting is inconsistent between forum software and often renders badly.
