The Image Color Replacer finds every pixel close to one colour and moves it to another. A flat replacement suits logos and graphics; preserving the original lightness instead shifts the hue while keeping folds and highlights, which is what makes a recoloured photograph still look like a photograph. Colours are sampled by clicking.
Recolouring a logo for a dark background, changing a product colourway, or fixing a brand colour that shipped wrong are all the same operation: find every pixel close enough to one colour and move it to another.
The tolerance decides how much of a range counts as "close enough", and the mode decides what happens to the pixels that match. A flat replacement paints them all the new colour, which is right for logos and flat graphics. Preserving the shading instead shifts the hue while keeping each pixel's own lightness, which is what makes a recoloured photograph still look like a photograph. Colours can be sampled by clicking the image rather than typed.
Pick the target colour from the image itself, which is far more accurate than matching it by eye in a colour picker.
Shifting hue while preserving lightness is what lets a red shirt become a blue one with all its folds intact.
Controls how wide a range counts as the target colour, with the affected area shown as you drag.
Blended edge pixels are the usual source of a fringe, and softening catches them.
Feed the download back in to change a second colour, one clean pass at a time.
A logo, a graphic or a photo.
Click the image to sample it, which is far more accurate than matching by eye.
And decide whether to paint flat or keep the original shading.
Higher takes more shades; too high starts eating the rest of the image.
Because the edge pixels are blends between the target colour and its surroundings, so they fall outside the tolerance. Raise the tolerance slightly, or turn on edge softening.
It shifts the hue while preserving each pixel's own lightness and saturation, so a red shirt becomes a blue shirt with all its folds and highlights intact rather than a flat blue shape.
One per pass. Run the tool again on the result to change a second colour — the download can be fed straight back in.
On distinct, well-lit colours, yes, using the shading-preserving mode. On a colour that appears throughout the image in different lighting, the result is unpredictable.
