Produce SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests of any text.
SHA-1 is included for compatibility with older systems only. It is cryptographically broken — do not use it to protect anything.
The Hash Generator computes SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests of any text at once. A cryptographic hash turns input of any length into a fixed-length fingerprint: change one character and the entire digest changes.
A cryptographic hash turns any input into a fixed-length fingerprint. Change one character of the input and the entire digest changes, which is what makes hashes useful for verifying that a file or message arrived intact.
Enter text and every supported digest is computed at once: SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512. The work is done by the browser's native SubtleCrypto implementation, so it is both fast and local. SHA-1 is included because plenty of existing systems still emit it, but it is broken for security purposes and should only be used to match legacy output — not to protect anything.
All four algorithms are computed from the same input, so you can copy whichever one the system you are talking to expects.

Your input is hashed on your own machine, so it is safe to hash sensitive strings.
Included because plenty of existing systems still emit it, with a clear warning that it is broken for security purposes.
Edit the input and every digest updates immediately, which makes the avalanche effect easy to see.
Type or paste the string you want to hash.
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 are calculated together as you type.
Each digest has its own copy button.
No. Hashing is one-way by design. Short or common inputs can still be found by guessing against a precomputed table, which is why passwords need a salt and a slow algorithm rather than a bare hash.
SHA-256 is the sensible default for general integrity checking. Use SHA-512 where you want a longer digest. Avoid SHA-1 for anything security-related, as practical collisions have been demonstrated.
Browsers do not implement MD5 in their native crypto API, and it has been thoroughly broken for over a decade. Adding it would mean shipping insecure code for a use case nobody should have.
