Quick Tool Overview

The BMP to PNG Converter moves uncompressed bitmaps — and GIF and, where the browser supports it, TIFF — into a modern format. BMP stores pixels with essentially no compression, so converting to PNG is lossless and routinely cuts eighty percent or more off the file. JPEG and WebP output go further still.

About the BMP to PNG Converter

BMP stores pixels with essentially no compression, which is why a modest bitmap can be tens of megabytes. Converting to PNG is lossless and routinely cuts the size by eighty percent or more; converting to JPEG or WebP goes further still.

The same page handles GIF and, where your browser supports it, TIFF — the other two formats people most often need moved into something modern. GIF converts frame one of an animation and says so. Because everything runs on a canvas locally, a very large bitmap is limited only by your machine's memory rather than by an upload cap.

Key features of the BMP to PNG Converter

Lossless into PNG

Every pixel value survives exactly while the file gets dramatically smaller, because BMP was not compressing anything.

Several sources handled

BMP, GIF and any TIFF variant your browser can decode all go through the same page.

Three targets

PNG when it must stay exact, JPEG or WebP when the size is what matters.

Clear about GIF animation

An animated GIF converts from its first frame and you are told, rather than losing the rest silently.

No upload cap

A very large bitmap is limited by your device memory rather than by a server's file size rules.
