Turn text into a block-letter ASCII banner for a README or a CLI.
The ASCII Banner Generator renders text as block letters in fonts built into the page, so it works offline and fetches nothing — with the width shown so you know whether it fits a terminal.
Type a word and get it back as block letters, the way a figlet banner looks at the top of a README or in a CLI splash screen. Three fonts are included, from tall solid blocks to a compact three-row face that fits in a narrow terminal.
The fonts are built into the page rather than fetched, so nothing is downloaded and the tool works offline — which also means the character set is deliberately limited to letters, digits and common punctuation. Anything outside that is reported rather than silently dropped. The output can be wrapped as a code comment for whichever language you are pasting into, and the width is shown so you know whether it will fit an 80-column terminal.
Nothing is fetched, so the tool works offline — which is also why the character set is limited and says so.
Solid blocks, a shadowed variant, and a compact three-row font for a narrow terminal.
In characters, so you can tell whether it will survive an 80-column terminal before pasting it.
Wrapped for JavaScript, PHP, Python or HTML, ready to paste at the top of a file.
Anything outside the font is reported rather than silently becoming a gap.
Letters, digits and common punctuation; the banner updates as you type.
Solid blocks, a shadowed variant, or a compact three-row face.
Shown in characters, so you know whether it fits an 80-column terminal.
As plain text, or wrapped as a comment for your language.
Similar in output, not in mechanism. Real figlet reads a .flf font file, which would mean fetching one — so the fonts here are built into the page and the tool works entirely offline.
Because the block fonts only define uppercase glyphs, as most figlet fonts do. Text is uppercased before rendering rather than leaving gaps.
Only in a monospace font. In a proportional font the columns do not line up and the letters collapse, which is why these belong in code, terminals and README code blocks.
Under 80 characters if it will appear in a terminal, since that is still the default width and anything longer wraps into nonsense. The width is shown so you can check.
