About the HTML Table Generator

Paste data or set the dimensions and get a complete HTML table, with a live preview of what it renders as. Pasted CSV, TSV or a block copied out of a spreadsheet all work, with the delimiter detected automatically.

The markup is the accessible kind, which is the part hand-written tables usually miss. Header cells are th rather than styled td, they carry a scope attribute so a screen reader knows whether a header belongs to its column or its row, and there is a caption element for the table's purpose. A row-header option covers the tables where the first column labels the row, and optional CSS is generated alongside for a table that needs to look presentable immediately.

Key features of the HTML Table Generator

Accessible by default

th elements with scope, a thead, and a caption — the three things that let a screen reader user navigate a table rather than hear a wall of cells.

Paste from a spreadsheet

A copy from Excel or Sheets is tab-separated, which is detected automatically.

Row headers too

When the first column labels each row, those cells become th with scope="row", which is what makes the table readable out of order.

Live preview

The table renders beside the markup, so a misaligned column is visible immediately.

Responsive CSS included

An overflow wrapper so a wide table scrolls rather than breaking the page layout.
