The LESS to CSS Converter compiles LESS with the official compiler — variables, mixins, nesting, guards and colour functions included — and hands back plain CSS, readable or minified.
LESS built a generation of themes, Bootstrap 3 among them, and plenty of that code is still in production. Touching it means compiling it, and setting up Node and a build for one stylesheet you need to read is a poor use of an afternoon.
Paste LESS and get CSS, compiled by LESS itself — version 4.2 — rather than by an approximation. Variables, mixins with arguments and defaults, nesting, the parent selector, guards, operations and the colour functions such as darken() and lighten() all behave exactly as they do in a build. Choose the division behaviour to suit LESS 3 or LESS 4 code, and minify on the way out. The compiler runs in your browser, so a proprietary theme never leaves your machine.
LESS 4.2 itself, so the output matches what a build produces.
Parametric mixins, defaults, guards and detached rulesets all work.
darken(), lighten(), fade() and the rest resolve to real values.
LESS 4 bracket division, or the classic always-divide behaviour.
A failure names the line and column the compiler stopped at.
A stylesheet, a theme file, or a single component.
LESS 4 divides only inside brackets; older code often relies on always.
Errors name the line and column, exactly as the compiler reports them.
Minified or readable, whichever you need.
No, because there is no file system here to import from. Paste the imported LESS into the same box, or compile locally where the files exist.
LESS 4 only treats a slash as division inside brackets, so @a / 2 stays literal but (@a / 2) divides. Switch the setting to always for older code.
Yes. This is the real LESS compiler, so parametric mixins, default values, guards, detached rulesets and the built-in functions all work.
No. The compiler is JavaScript running in your tab; the only network request is for the compiler itself, fetched once from a public CDN.
