Turn "two hundred and forty-five" or "one lakh twenty thousand" back into digits.
Words to Number turns numbers written in English words back into digits, reading British and American phrasing, lakh and crore, decimals, ordinals and shortcuts such as "a million" or "1.5 crore".
Numbers written in words turn up in scanned contracts, transcripts, voice notes, old ledgers and data exports, and they have to be turned back into digits before anything can add them up. Doing it by hand for a list is slow, and a single misread "lakh" or "billion" changes a figure by orders of magnitude.
Paste the words, one number per line. The converter reads British and American phrasing, with or without "and" and hyphens; the Indian lakh and crore, including "one lakh crore"; decimals such as "three point one four"; shortcuts such as "a million" or "1.5 crore"; and ordinals like "twenty-first". Results can be plain digits, grouped internationally, grouped the Indian way, or written in Bangla digits.
Lakh, crore, arab and "lakh crore" are read alongside thousand, million and billion.
Figures written as "3 million" or "1.5 crore" are understood as well as full words.
"Minus seven point two five" becomes -7.25, exactly.
"Twenty-first" can become 21st or plain 21, whichever you need.
A word it does not recognise is reported with its line number instead of being guessed.
One number per line, such as "three million four hundred thousand".
Plain digits, international or Indian grouping, or Bangla digits.
Keep "twenty-first" as 21st, or reduce it to 21.
Lines with a word it does not know are listed so you can fix them.
Yes. "Two crore fifty lakh" becomes 25000000, and compound forms such as "one lakh crore" become 1000000000000.
Yes. "1.5 crore", "3 million" and "2 thousand" all work, which is how figures are often written in reports.
The article is read as one, so "a hundred and five" is 105 and "a million" is 1000000.
The common "fourty" is accepted. Anything else it cannot read is reported with its line number rather than silently guessed.
