The Tailwind to CSS Converter runs Tailwind v4 itself over the classes you paste and returns exactly the CSS the framework generates, variants and custom properties included.
Every Tailwind class is shorthand for real CSS, and sooner or later you need to see it: to debug a specificity clash, to copy a component into a project that does not use Tailwind, to explain to a reviewer what shadow-sm actually does, or to check what a variant compiles to.
Paste classes — or a whole block of HTML, JSX or Vue, and the class names are picked out for you — and get the CSS Tailwind generates for them. This runs Tailwind v4 with its default theme, so the output is the framework’s own, variants and all: hover:, md:, dark: and focus: each produce their real selector or media query. Only the custom properties your classes actually use are included, so the result is a snippet you can paste into any project.
v4.1 with the default theme — not an approximation or a lookup table.
class and className attributes in HTML, JSX, TSX and Vue are picked out.
hover:, md: and dark: appear as their real selectors and media queries.
Only the custom properties your classes use, not the whole theme.
A class that generates nothing is counted, which catches typos fast.
A list of class names, or HTML, JSX or Vue containing them.
The framework itself generates the CSS, in your browser.
hover:, md: and dark: appear as their real selectors and media queries.
Paste it into a project with no Tailwind at all.
Tailwind CSS v4.1 with its default theme. That matters: v4 is built on custom properties and OKLCH colours, so its output differs from v3 even for the same class name.
It is not a class Tailwind knows — usually a typo, a plugin class, or one defined in your own theme, none of which exist in a default build.
Yes. class and className attributes are read out of HTML, JSX, TSX and Vue, duplicates removed, and every unique class compiled.
No — only the utilities your classes generate, plus the custom properties they use. Preflight is a separate layer and rarely what you want when copying a component out.
