The GeoJSON to CSV Converter flattens features into rows: every property becomes a column, coordinates become longitude and latitude, and lines and polygons report their centre point.
GeoJSON is the format map libraries and open data portals hand out, and it nests everything you want in columns inside a properties object and a coordinates array. A spreadsheet cannot read that shape.
Paste the GeoJSON and get a flat table: every property becomes a column, in the order the features use them, plus longitude and latitude columns and the geometry type. A FeatureCollection, a single Feature or a bare array of features are all accepted. Points give their exact position; lines and polygons give the centre of their coordinates, which is what you want for a label or a lookup, with a clear warning that the shape itself cannot fit in two columns. Coordinates can be rounded to a sensible precision, and a BOM keeps accented place names readable in Excel.
Every property that appears anywhere gets a column, in first-seen order.
Named longitude and latitude columns remove any doubt about the order.
Their centre point is used, with a clear warning that the shape is lost.
Round coordinates to 4, 5 or 6 decimals instead of carrying fifteen.
A UTF-8 BOM keeps accented place names readable.
A FeatureCollection, a Feature, or an array of features.
Six decimals is about ten centimetres — rarely worth more.
The table underneath shows exactly what the CSV will hold.
Open it in Excel, or feed it to anything that reads rows.
They keep their properties and get the centre of their coordinates as longitude and latitude. The shape itself cannot be represented in two columns, so keep the GeoJSON if you need the geometry.
GeoJSON stores coordinates as [longitude, latitude] — the opposite order from how people say them. They are split into named columns here so there is no doubt.
Every property that appears in any feature becomes a column, in first-seen order, and features without it get an empty cell.
Yes — the CSV to GeoJSON tool turns a table of coordinates back into a FeatureCollection of points.
